The thermal reactor is intended for removing harmful components from IC engine exhaust gas. It is of the type having a housing (1, 2) enclosing a combustion chamber (3) and provided with gas inlet (4) and outlet (5) connections. The housing is longitudinally split and has the inlet and outlet connections arranged on a first housing half (1) in iron whilst the second half-shell (2) is made in sheet metal. The two halves are preferably connected by flanges (6, 7) with a solid steel or cast flange frame (9) placed over the sheet metal flange (7).
