A measurement device has a LED display, contained in a portable unit and powered by batteries. It is compact and has low power consumption whilst enabling sensitive digital display of physical parameters. The led's (16) are supplied from a circuit contg, a choke (11), a capacitor (12), a diode (13), an electronic switch (14), a reference voltage source (15) and a comparator (17). The supply circuit is mounted on a circuit is mounted on a circuit board (10) inside the housing (1) of the unit, leaving ample space for the batteries.
