1484685 Axial-flow fans GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 1 Oct 1974 [1 Oct 1973] 45519/76 Divided out of 1484683 Heading F1C The subject-matter of this Specification is identical with part of that described in Parent Specification 1484683 but the claims are concerned with a pitch lock in or for a variable-pitch fan of a turbofan engine including a fan disc rotatable about its longitudinal axis and having an aperture for receiving a blade shank in pivotable relationship, the blade pitch being variable by means for rotating the shank, the means including a shaft coaxial and rotatable with the disc, a sleeve surrounding the shaft and movable at least axially with respect to it, the shaft and the sleeve being surrounded by a casing which is displaceable relatively to the shaft in response to axial movement of the sleeve, and the shank rotating in response to the casing displacement, the pitch lock comprising a thrust collar and a locking piston co-operating with the shaft and the casing respectively and having locking means for engagement with one another, means for providing the engagement and means for effecting disengagement. |
