1484378 Wetting textiles HOECHST AG 5 Dec 1974 [7 Dec 1973] 52690/74 Headings D1B and D1P An improved wetting effect is obtained by treating textiles with an aqueous liquor, which may be a dyeing or finishing liquor, comprising a mixture of water from 10-60% by volume based on the mixture, of a saturated aliphatic monohydric alcohol (1 or 2C) and at least one aliphatic, straight-chain or branched, monohydric alcohol (more than 2C). The alcohol (1 or 2C) is preferably methanol. The alcohol (more than 2C) may be propanol, isopropanol, butanol or isobutanol. The composition may further contain a surface active substance which is an oxyethylation, oxypropylation and/or sulphonation product of an aliphatic fatty alcohol e.g. the reaction product of I mol of isotridecyl alcohol with 5-10 mols of ethylene oxide. The treated textile may be dried using a burning-off technique.
