PURPOSE: To ensure accuracy while saving the labor by commanding an operator, on a display, to place a specified test weight at a specified position of a measuring platform and then performing a plurality of measuring operations. CONSTITUTION: When no weight is present at a measuring platform, a test is performed in order to decide whether a balance is calibrated correctly at weight 0 or not. When it is not calibrated correctly, an operator is commanded, on a display 124, to place a test weight at a specified position of the measuring platform and then measuring operations are performed for the number of load cells 50 to obtain digital values representative of the response thereof. These values are passed through an AMP 114, a MUX 116 and an A/D 118 and used by a microprocessorμP 120 for determining constants according to a plurality of equations and the constants are stored in an ROM 123. In the subsequent actual measurement, theμP 120 corrects the signal from the cell 50 using the constants stored in the ROM 123 and presents the corrected signal on the display 124.
