The tape may be sealed to the wrapper before or during packaging. Apparatus for wrapping the articles includes tear-tape web 13 joined at 16 to wrapping web 15 arranged in a curtain into which an article 9 is pushed to drag the combined webs from respective reels 12, 14 and encompass the article. Tear tape web 13 is supplied at a speed not exceeding one quarter that of the wrapping web 15, such that when sealing and severing jaws 17, 18 operate, a second seal 16 is formed adjacent the first to define a narrow tear-tape. Conveyer 10 takes the open-ended package into shrinking oven 11.</p> |
