<p>Laminate is produced by (a) treating a continuous strip of porous core material with an adhesion-promoting and reinforcing material, pref. an acrylic resin emulsion, (b) preheating the core material, (c) simultaneously extruding two sheets of thermoplastic material, pref. a plasticised vinyl resin, e.g. PVC, to cover each side of the preheated core material, (d) pregressively compressing the laminate to the desired thickness, and causing parts of the cover sheets to penetrate into the spaces in the core material, and (e) cooling the laminate to the hardening temp. of the cover sheets. Product is resistant to bending, folding the cracking.</p> |
