1330338 Cartridge actuated fastener driving tool ELEKTRO-FEINMECHANIK ERICH HOLZ 4 Dec 1970 [5 Dec 1969] 57705/70 Heading B4C [Also in Division F3] A cartridge actuated fastener driving tool comprises an axially movable barrel 3 having a bore 7, for receiving a cartridge and enclosing a driving piston 9, and means operable upon rearward movement of the barrel towards its firing position for moving a strip 11 of resilient material carrying cartridges 8 so that the leading unfired cartridge in the strip is moved into alignment with the bore 7. The means includes a sprocket wheel 18 which engages the cartridges, and a ratchet wheel 19, both wheels being securely mounted on a shaft 71. A substantially vertically movable member 20 having a projecting bolt 20a for effecting indexing of the ratchet wheel and normally biased to the position shown by tension spring 21 projects into the path of movement of the barrel. Rearward movement of the barrel thus depresses the member 20 against bias of spring 21 and causes rotation of the sprocket wheel and indexing of the strip. Return motion of the ratchet wheel is prevented by a pawl 22 biased by spring 23 into engagement with the ratchet wheel. The wheels, pawl 22 and member 20 are carried by a housing 12 made of sheet metal or plastics material. The housing 12 is retained in the tool body by a lug 15 being biased by spring 14 to engage under a nose 16. |
