1483005 Spray carburetters BORG-WARNER CORP 20 Aug 1975 [9 Sept 1974] 34656/75 heading F1H To prevent fuel vapour locks in a carburetter having fluid-flow luminar elements 100 to 103 between the float chamber 52 and the Venturi body section 12, a heat exchanger element 55 is secured to the face of float chamber, Fig. 7 to circulate fuel from the fuel supply upstream of the float valve 72 through channels in the element and back to the fuel tank so as to cool the float chamber Two or three elements may be employed 55', 55" Fig. 12 or 55c, 55c', 55c" Fig. 18. In the latter case the third element 55c" is provided on the Venturi section 12c. Communication between elements may be via internal passages e.g. 269 and 271 and the channels in the elements may be series or parallel connected to the each other or individually connected to the supply pipe as illustrated in Fig. 21 (not shown). The elements may be of fibrous gasket material, the quantity of fuel flowing therein being governed by the channel size. The channel may also be formed integrally with block 100, Fig. 7, containing the adjustment devices 138, 124 as illustrated in Fig. 15 to 17 (not shown), the block comprising plastics or resinous material. The carburetter per se functions substantially in the manner disclosed in Specification 1466669. |
