In order to simplify production and handling, there are articulated on the free end of the adjusting lever (21) a lower transfer lever (22), which is connected via a connecting lever (19) to the front region of the seat fitting (6), and an upper transfer lever (23) which is articulated, by its free end, on the control lever (14) between the outer bearing points of the same. The two transfer levers are designed as two-armed pivot levers mounted with a mutual spacing on the stand fitting (5). That end of the actuating lever (13) directed away from the leg-support mechanism is designed as a cam surface and, together with a stay bolt (16) fastened on the stand fitting (5), controls the position of the seat (1) and backrest (3) with respect to the horizontal. The tension spring (27), articulated on the stand fitting (5), is connected to the lower transfer lever (22). This measure ensures in each case a simple and smooth transition between the upright position, the partially reclining position and the fully reclining position. <IMAGE>
