Rotary drum for surface treatments e.g. electroplating - includes lid which opens and closes automatically

Arrangement for automatically opening and closing a rotating drum includes a lid covering an opening in the periphery of the drum which is mounted on a frame fitted with a drive unit rotating the drum. The lid is mounted in guides on the drum periphery so it can slide over the periphery; the lid has >1 projection or limit stop pointing outwards; and on the frame is at least one limit stop which can mate with the projection on the lid so the drum can rotate w.r.t. the lid. The lid guides are pref. provided in the end walls of the drum, and the lid can be fitted with one or two projections. The limit stop on the frame can be driven in and then retracted using e.g. a work cylinder. The drum is suitable for chemical or electrochemical treatments, e.g. electroplating.
