<p>Lamp socket for standard bayonet fitting bulbs, provided with a safety insert which prevents accidental human contact with the socket pins when the lamp is not fitted. The insert closes off access to the live pins until the bulb is inserted and twisted with the normal bayonet action turning the insert and allowing the pins to emerge through it to make contact with the bulb contact studs. The insert is a short cylinder closed off at one end trapped within the socket skirt and held in the safe position by interlocking sprung wings on both skirt and insert.</p> |
