Quasi continuous filter consists of a series of filter cells at the base of which is a filter membrane mounted on an endless belt driven by motor. This is designed to move the cells forward in stages and not continuously, each stage as shown having two cells, through this member is not fixed. Slurry is fed to the cells which at this stage are connected to vacuum pumps via catchpots. The cells are then moved to a straight filtration stage while followed by cascaded wash stages, radiant drying. Prod. is finally dumped onto a conveyor belt and the cells are inverted when passing to the under rim of the belt. The cells are washed out before returning to the loading posn. For all filtration operations where filter cake is desired product. The use of the quasi continuous system avoids the need for moving seals. The quasi-continuous principle can also be applied to pressure filtration. |
