1481655 Voltage multiplying rectifier construction INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 27 May 1975 [31 May 1974] 23200/75 Heading H2F In a voltage multiplier, e.g. for a TV receiver, the capacitors on the D.C. side are formed into one composite roll 12 whilst those on the A.C. side are formed into another composite roll 11, the rolls being housed in a rectangular container 14 with the semi-conductor rectifiers 1 ... 5, located substantially as shown in such a way that the length of the container is not appreciably greater than the sum of the diameters of the rolls 11, 12 and the length of one rectifier 1, whilst the width is not appreciably greater than the diameter of the thicker capacitor roll 12. The capacitors are preferably formed using sandwich dielectric of two polystyrene layers with an intermediate polyester layer; the connecting leads are merely positioned in the rolls and not welded to the electrode foils. The container 14 may be of polycarbonate and filled with epoxy resin. The central section (Fig. 3, not shown) of the container may have reduced width so as to accommodate a mounting foot with screw slots. An extra rectifier 13 is included to prevent negative transients at the input. The high voltage output and ground leads 30, 31 are connected as shown.
