Idling belt pulley is formed by an elastic inner element symmetrical about its axis of rotation and supporting an embedded co-axial bearing for the pulley shaft, the outer periphery of the element having bonded to it a rigid annular member whose outer periphery forms the guiding surface for the belt. Noise generated by spindles rotating at speeds of 5-20,000 rpm and producing a noise level of 65-80 dBA is reduced on average by 0.5-5.0 dBA.
