<p>Thioxanthenone derivs of formula (I) (in which R is H or OH and x is 0 or 1) and he pharmaceutically acceptable acid addn. salts of (I) are schistosomicides which may be administered orally or parenterally. For example, 6-chloro-4-methyl-1-(4-methyl-1-piperazinly)thioxanthenone is active at 366 mg/kg po and 160 mg/kg im in mice. It has a relatively high therapeutic index, and does not induce mutations in bacteria.</p> |
