Light guide fibre coupling device for optical communication transmission has three highly polished metal rods of equal diameter. The metal rods (1) are arranged in the corners of an equilateral triangle and enclose the light guide fibres (3,4) to be coupled. The fibres (3,4) and metal rods (1) are measured and held, together by means of a pressure sleeve (5). A channel is formed in the centre between the metal rods (1) and has a slightly smaller diameter than the light guide fibres (3,4). The ends of the pressure sleeve (5) are slotted and tapered.
