<p>The constant speed control, for a universal motor, has a tachometric alternator (2) incorporated into the motor shaft (1) and connected to a thyristor control circuit (4). A diode (5) connected into the circuit, compensates for the motor's hysteresis arising because the current it receives is not DC but pulsed. The diode increases the motor efficiency. A protection circuit consisting of a rectifier and resistor circuit, is connected between the supply network and the tachometric alternator to prevent the motor experiencing damaging acceleration if the cable connection to the tachogenerator fails.</p> |
