1481068 Battery cases P R MALLORY & CO Inc 4 Sept 1974 [4 Sept 1973] 38694/74 Heading H1B A battery comprises a number of cells 16-1 to 16-6 and a case which consists of two co-operating parts 12, 14, the case being provided with two windows which enable access to the electrode terminals 25-3, 16-6C of the battery. The parts of the case are moulded from plastics material and are provided with recesses for locating the cells which are connected in series via connectors 18. Each connector is spot welded to the can and anode terminals of adjacent cells. One window is formed by complementary recesses 12-3, 14-3 in the case parts to enable access to the positive battery terminals 16-6C. The negative battery terminal is formed by a metal strip 25 which overlies a supporting flange 14-2 below the other window (14-2A), Fig. 4A (not shown), in the case part 14. The two case parts are sealed either by chemical bonding or by ultrasonic heating and welding. |
