LOW-SOLVENT LACQUER SYSTEMS

The stoving enamel systems are liquid, solvent-free or low-solvent and are free from aromatic solvents. They contain, as crosslinking agents, melamine resins, benzoguanamine resins or urea resins. As hydroxyl-containing binders, they contain a combination of high-molecular-weight polyesters containing hydroxyl and carboxyl groups (molecular weight between 1500 and 5000) and low-molecular-weight polyol (molecular weight between 62 and 1000). The low-molecular-weight polyol can take on the function of a solvent. As a non-volatile binder constituent, however, it is incorporated chemically into the paint film during stoving. Enamel systems give particularly resistant finishes and are environmentally friendly.
