The invention concerns a continuous band for filtration under vacuum, consisting of an endless band which carries filter material and which is fitted with suction channels placed one behind the other and connected to a longitudinal gutter at the back of the band, and having connections on their lower surface for filtrate and air. The driving, return and supporting rollers by which the band circulates have a bearing on one side only. The gutter and the vacuum connections may be on one side of the band, or they may be in the middle of the band, with the rollers on both sides of the band. The band is divided into vacuum zones and each zone is connected individually by a pipe to a vacuum pump through a control head. There are tensioning devices on the pipes and guide elements. The filter band occupies less space and is more efficient than existing filters. The suction chamber can be kept at reduced press. over the whole length of the filter system. The problems of fluid-tightness are overcome, so that the max. suction press. of the vacuum pump is available on the filter. The filter band has a longer life and it can be shorter because it is more efficient. |
