The electro-pneumatic and mechanical lock for a car ignition key system is released by engagement of the driver's safety belt. The ignition key system is so locked by the pins and a spring with linkages that the ignition key cannot engage and the engine cannot be fired. This is possible only when the engagement head of the safety belt is engaged in the catch. The solenoid operates via a current pulse from the contact of the catch via the battery so that the pins release the ignition switch system via the linkage.
