Printer for desk computer - with hammer actuated by spring when permanent magnet field is cancelled

The printer for a desk computer has a head (4a) with a plastic hammer (4) tensioned by a spring (6) the other end of which is anchored on the pole of the stationary electromagnet (2a). The attraction of the permanent magnet (1) brings it into contact with a teflon (RTM) damper and stresses the spring whose stored energy is used for driving the hammer when the electromagnet is excited. The spring propels then the head against the type wheel (10) to print a character. The assembly has a damping member the same area as the electromagnetic and these are broad enough to cover several hammer head positions.
