Household ironing press with pivotable two-arm pressing lever - with tension rod connected to spring-loaded rocker

Household ironing press comprises a fixed frame with an ironing substrate, and a pivotable two-arm pressing lever with a supporting arm and a perpendicular control arm. At the free end of the supporting arm is a pressing plate coacting with the substrate. In the region of the control arm is mounted a rocker which can be pivoted beyond the centre and which is engaged by one end of a spring which holds the pressing plate open or closed. A tension rod connected to the rocker is actuated to create pressure between substrate and pressing plate. The point of engagement of the spring facing away from the rocker is variable according to position of the control arm so that, within limits, the geometrical spring axis remains in the central plane of the rocker, regardless of the pivot position of the pressing lever.
