<p>1480637 2<SP>1</SP>,6<SP>1</SP>-Dimethylanilide of 2-hydroxynicotinic acid LABORATORIOS HERMES SA 20 Sept 1974 [20 July 1974] 41018/74 Heading C2C The novel title compound of Formula I is obtained (a) by reacting a halonicotinic acid of formula wherein X is a halogen atom with 2,6-dimethylaniline or (b) by reacting a compound of formula wherein Z is a halogen atom or the group -CO-Z is an ester group, with 2,6-dimethylaniline to form the intermediate of formula and then hydrolysing the latter with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide. The condensations are preferably effected with heating in the presence of a solvent using a stoichiometric excess of 2,6-dimethylaniline and the hydrolysis preferably in a polar solvent (e.g. DMF, DMSO) at >120‹C. The total compound possesses analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.</p> |
