<p>A travelling cutter for cutting lengths from continuous expanded thermoplastic board, where a series of individual hot wire cutters are mounted between two belt tracks which straddle the board path. The board path follows an inclined ramp to intersect the cutter path. Board lengths isolated between successive cutters, drop to an ancillary conveyor system for removal. The cutter is simpler to construct and requires less energy to operate that conventional single reciprocating saw or cutter devices. The cutter movement is derived from the thrust of the advancing board, ensuring speed synchronisation. The angle at which the board path intersects the cutter path is adjustable. The number and spacing of the cutters is adjustable. The cutter wire tensions are spring loaded.</p> |
