<p>An installation for processing or manufacturing goods uses part of a suitable building by building up a framework of shelving (3,4) and platforms (14) to form a two tier assembly, with one set of machines (7) mounted on the platforms on opposite sides of the shelves, above the machines (6) on the floor. The two sets of shelves form walls with a gap between them for passage of the goods between them and between horizontal stages during processing. Feed and delivery conveyors (10,13) can be at floor level, with an elevator (5) between them, also in line with the gap between the two walls of shelves. The machines are on the sides of the shelves remote from the gap. This gives the maximum scope for transfer between tiers and shelves, for efficient handling.</p> |
