Sand distribution system for vehicles - has sand output pipe at each wheel station with electromagnetic flow control valve

The sand distribution system is for use on ice and snow surfaces and obviates the need for spiked tyres or snow chains. The system consists of an electromagnetic valve and control circuit. The valve controls sand flow out of a pipe on to the road in front of the wheels. During braking the valve is controlled by the brake light switch. An additional switch is provided for starting up. The sand is stored in a watertight container positioned in the wheelarch, the engine compartment or the boot. The sand moves by gravity to the output pipe.
