1479832 Collapsible chair J E OSWELL 19 Jan 1976 [25 Jan 1975] 3347/75 Heading A4J [Also in Division B7] A collapsible chair, particularly a wheel chair, comprises two pairs of legs 2, 3 and 4, 5 each pair being pivoted at 6 and 7 in scissor fashion, a seat frame 8 pivoted at 9 to legs 3 and 5 and carrying a rear backing bar 11 which engages behind rearwardly open hooks 14, 15 on a retainer 12 between legs 2, 4 to hold the chair erect. The seat frame side members 16, 17 are bent downwardly at 19 so that the bar 11 and hooks 14, 15 may be arranged below the seat 18. The hooks are arranged so that the bar is only disengaged by rearward and upward movement whereupon the seat frame may be folded flat against legs 3 and 5. The chair may have wheels at each leg or just two rear wheels 26, 27 and handles 24, 25 for use in negotiating stairs are provided. The seat and backrest may be of canvas. |
