1479566 Multiple glazing CARL-ZEISSSTIFTUNG [trading as JENAER GLASWERKE SCHOTT & GEN] 2 Dec 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 49521/75 Heading ClM [Also in Division El] Fire-resistive glazing comprises at least two glass panes 1, 2 held in and spaced by a metal rim 4 and metal spacer 3, at least one pane (1) being a fire-resistive pane which withstands a fire test according to German Industrial Standard (DIN) 4102 (1970) and having a compressive stress in its marginal zone. The glass pane 1 preferably is a borosilicate or aluminosilicate, or may be a surface-crystallizable glass. Glass pane 1 or the opposite pane 2 (which may be of float or plate glass, but preferably also is a fire-resistive pane as defined above) may have an infra-red reflective coating of, e.g. Au or TiO 2 . Panes 1 and 2 are preferably spaced (by steel or aluminium spacer 3) by 10-100 mm. A preferred glazing unit comprises fire-resistant pane 1 and a laminated pane comprising glass panes 2 and a plastics interlayer 6 (e.g. of epoxy resin or polyvinyl butyral). One or more of panes 2 may also be fire-resistive. |
