The reciprocating piston for internal combustion engines, steam engines, gas and pneumatic motors and pumps and compressors has a high sealing effect without the use of separate piston rings. A section of the pistons curved surface is provided with right hand and left hand intersecting helical channels. The curved surface ends have also two circumferential grooves. These grooves are connected by helical channels. The helical and circumferential channels collect and accommodate lubricating oil and ensure sealing. The piston head has a number of circumferential grooves which are separated by ribs with V shaped profiles. The helical grooves have rectangular shape.
