Core shooter for the cold box process - using shooter plate and gassing plate alternately aligned above core box

Core shooter is used for mfg. foundry cores which harden immediately by reaction of a synthetic organic binder in the presence of a catalyst gas, e.g. using a cold box process. Sand flows from a hopper through a shotter plate (1) into a core box mounted on a table which is raised to clamp the box against plate (1) to fill the box with sand (2), using a fixed angle between the plates. The core box talbe is pref. located on a pivot and raised or lowered by a work cylinder to clamp the box against the plates (1,2) which are swung alternately into their working positions by another work cylinder. The core shooter is pref. provided with an automatic conveyor for circulation of sets of core boxes under the shooter head. Used, e.g. for mfg. cores from sand mixed with a phenolic- and a polyisocyanate- resin, hardened by passing CO2 contg. dimethyl-ethylamine through the core box. Rapid mass prodn. of cores at low cost is achieved.
