<p>A clamp-on ammeter enables current to be checked in a cable without interrupting the supply. The ammeter has a pistor grip with trigger mechanism to open the jaws at the end of a barrel. This facilitates access to cables at an angle. Half a transformer winding (16) is housed in a casing (55) whose two halves (56, 57) pivot on an axis (58). a second half winding (17) is housed in a cap which pivots on a hinge mechanism to form two jaws (M, M1). A trigger (24) operates one jaw (M1) via a flexible cable (50) while the other jaw (M) is operated by a rotatable knob (62) adjacent to the trigger and connected via cables (65, 64) to the jaw.</p> |
