Containers such as trays, crates, bottle racks and baskets, are stacked in columns A . . . E, Fig. 1, between walls MG, MD, one side of each container other than the lowest containers being supported on the next lowest container in the same column and the other side being supported, in the case of the containers in columns A . . . D, on the next lowest container in the column adjacent that side and, in the case of column E, on the wall MG, the containers being laterally interengaged and the arrangement being such that by raising any container in the columns A . . . D, other than the lowest, the next lowest container in the said adjacent column can be slid out of its column. The walls MG, MD are formed by units nested on in another, the units MD2 . . . MD4 in the wall MD being interengaged with the containers in the column D and being individually raisable to permit those containers to be slit out of their column. The containers and the units MD2 . . . MD4 may be raised by a lever O inserted therebelow, or by mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic jacks.
