1,251,297. Dibutyl tin maleates. M. & T. INTERNATIONAL N.V. 28 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 10783/69. Heading C2J. A dibutyl tin maleate is made by reacting substantially stoichiometric amounts of a dibutyl tin oxide and maleic anhydride (or maleic acid) in the presence of a reaction medium at least 75% of which consists of an inert cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon, such that the product may be crystallized from the reaction medium on cooling. Preferably, the reaction temperature is maintained at 60-100‹ C. In the examples, di-n-butyl tin oxide was reacted with maleic anhydride in cyclohexane, methyl cyclohexane, or cyclohexene alone or in admixture with some heptane.
|
