<p>The water colour block (4) rests on the sloping floor (9) of a palette with outer walls (7) of the same height all round. At its lowest point, the sloping floor merges into a shallow gutter (6) in which surplus water collects. A shallow notch, rounded at the bottom is made in the outer wall just above the gutter. It is used for wiping excess paint off the brush. The pigment block container may be without a gutter; and instead a gutter, divided by partitions at intervals, is provided in the paint box itself. The refill contains have ribs on the underside, by which they clip into the paint box.</p> |
