Spherical tank having an inner oil resistant plastics lining and an outer shell formed by hemispheres is provided at the interface of the shells with adhesive surfaces formed of polyester concrete and bonded directly to one another. Each of the adhesive surfaces includes a surface portion whichis integral with steel reinforcing of the shells made of normal concrete, these surface portions abutting one another. The plastics lining may be cast from a polyamide or cross-linked polyethylene. The shell is readily bonded with the required strength.
