1479098 Benzodiazocine derivatives DDSA PHARMACEUTICALS Ltd 21 May 1976 [19 June 1975] 26065/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of general Formula I and acid addition salts of these compounds; R 1 represents halogen, trifluoromethyl, cyano, nitro, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or lower alkylthio; R 2 represents a lower alkyl or benzyl group; -A- represents a group or a group R 3 represents phenyl, (lower alkyl)-phenyl, nitrophenyl, halophenyl or pyridyl; R 4 represents an aromatic group, the aromatic ring of which is directly attached to the benzodiazocine ring, e.g. a furyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl group; "lower" here signifies C 1 -C 6 . A compound of Formula I may be made by reacting a benzodiazepine compound of formula in solution in aqueous acid with an aldehyde R 4 CHO, and converting the resulting intermediate into a compound of Formula I by dissolving it in a solvent (e.g. isopropanol) under basic conditions. Compounds of Formula I exemplified are 8-chloro-2-methylamino-4,6- diphenyl - 1,5 - benzodiazacine - 5 - oxide and the corresponding compound in which the phenyl group in the 4-position is replaced by a furyl group. The compounds may be used in therapuetic compositions. |
