1478287 Flame spray powder METCO Inc 21 Jan 1976 [18 Feb 1975] 02277/76 Heading C7F A flame spray powder comprises at least 50 wt. per cent cast iron, 10-50 wt. per cent Mo, and 0À1-3 wt. per cent B, all based on the total weight of cast iron and Mo, preferably in the form of particles having a white cast iron core coated or clad with Mo and B by means of a binder, e.g. a varnish or lacquer, several examples of which are given. The Mo may be present as Fe-Mo, containing at least 50 wt. per cent Mo and preferably 55-75 wt. per cent, and B as Fe-B, 10-30 wt. per cent B. A plasma-type flame spray gun is preferred. Examples are given of spraying an air-cooled mild steel substrate with powders of varying compositions. The powder may be formed into wire or rod with a binder. |
