1453091 Repair of ingot mould baseplates; jointing FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 31 Dec 1973 [15 Jan 1973] 2103/73 Headings B3F and B3V A method of repairing an ingot mould baseplate comprises applying to imperfections in the surface of the baseplate a hardenable refractory mixture containing metal wire or fibres, and causing or allowing the mixture to harden in situ. The mixture may comprise a particulate refractory filler such as alumina, magnesia, silicon carbide or carbon, a binding agent such as sodium silicate, colloidal silica sol., phosphates or phosphoric acid, bentonite, and steel, Fe, Ni, Ti, W, Mo or Cr fibres. The imperfections may be partly filled by preformed refractory inserts, these inserts being held in place by the hardenable refractory mixture. |
