<p>The turned-over edges of the uppers are fixed onto the continuous upstand rim. With this arrangement the upstand rim overlaps the edges of the uppers from the outside. The fastening of the uppers to the upstand rim can be carried out by hand or machine sewing, glueing, riveting, or by sewing together the upstand rim and the uppers edge by hand in a butt seam fashion. The design features a saving in uppers material against the conventional structure, where the uppers are turned-over at the junction with the sole and/or with the insole. With this design the uppers terminate at the top surface of the sole.</p> |
