1472679 Low-calorie sweetener GENERAL FOODS CORP 22 Dec 1975 [23 Dec 1974] 52498/75 Heading A2B A readily-dispersible, non-foaming, lowcalorie sweetener containing an edible bulking agent, a low-calorie sweetener and a defoaming agent is prepared by a) forming an aqueous solution of a minor amount of the bulking agent, a minor amount of the sweetener and all or a major amount of the defoaming agent and spray drying the solution, b) forming a second aqueous solution of a major amount of the bulking agent, a major amount of the sweetener and the remainder of the de-foaming agent and spray-drying to form a second dry composition, and blending ;the two dry compositions from a) and b). Bulking agents specified include organic acids such as citric, fumaric and adipic acids, hydrolysed starches such as dextrins, polymerised dextrins such as polymaltose, polyglucose and sugars, and corn syrup solids. De-foaming agents specified include dimethyl polysiloxane and copolymers of dimethyl siloxane and silicon dioxide. Low-calorie sweeteners which may be employed include saccharin and its soluble salts, cyclamate and its soluble salts, and L- aspartic acid derivatives, particularly dipeptide sweeteners such as L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester and its salts. |
