<p>The method uses radar direction finding or surveillance radar. Echoes received by the radar are displayed, in accordance with their direction and distance in rectangular coordinates on a picture screen of an additional display unit. Their lateral distances from the origin corresponds to the bearing, and vertical distance from a horizontal line to the distance. Echo signals are modified so that their vertical length is a measure for the object rate of approach. The system enables compass bearings to be deduced in such a way as to avoid a possible collision with the object revealed by the survey.</p> |
