Dyeing is continuous, in a anhydrous medium. Fabric is milled in a small-capacity dyebath which contains at least one polar organic solvent in which the dyes are sufficiently soluble from ambient temp. The fabric is passed into a closed enclosure full of vapour of another solvent, non-miscible with the first and of a lower b.p. in which the dyes are insoluble. It then passes into another closed enclosure at the b.p. of the 2nd solvent, which is evaporated and recovered. After cooling to ambient temp. and rinsing in an appropriate solvent, the fabric is circulated in a last heated enclosure to evaporate and recover the rinsing solvent, and is then rolled up.
|
