<p>A mobile unit travels along the spinning stations. A programme gives timed maintenance operating phases. The various programmes provide the phases and/or timings for the tasks to be executed, dependent on the operational state of hte open-end spinning unit requiring attention. Each maintenance unit has a selection switch to activate the appropriate programme according to the state of the open-end spinning station being maintained. Each open-end spinning unit has a switch to trip the selection switch, so positioned that it can strike the selection switch as the maintenance unit travels past the spinning station. The selection switch activates the required programme by a signal which is mechanical, optical, acoustic, pneumatic and/or electrical. The system allows a common maintenance unit to be used for all the spinning stations, even though individual units may be spinning yarns of different types and may register a variety of faults to be corrected.</p> |
