The preparation of intermediates is described as follows: 4-(m-trifluoromethylphenyl)- 1,2,3,6 - tetrahydro - pyridine hydrochloride is obtained by refluxing 4-(m-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-piperidinol hydrochloride in 6N HCl; 4 - (m - trifluoromethylphenyl)piperidine is obtained by hydrogenating 4 - (m - trifluoromethylphenyl) - 1,2,3,6 - tetrahydropyridine in the presence of palladium-on-charcoal; 4-(ptrifluoromethylphenyl)- 1,2,3,6 - tetrahydropyridine and 4 - (p - trifluoromethylphenyl)- piperidine are similarly obtained. Pharmaceutical compositions having anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant effects comprise compounds of Formula (I) together with a pharmaceutical carrier, preferably in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration. |
