<p>The thruster has an impeller (11) inside a short circular cross section duct (2 0), positioned in the larger transverse duct. The duct has a hexagonal cross section, and the thruster is mounted on an elastic support (15). The thruster is mounted off-centre so that the chances of resonant vibrations are reduced. The hexagonal shape also acts as a damper to eddy currents around the edge of the duct. The cross sectional area of the thruster, inside the circular duct is half that of the larger hexagonal duct to ensure a good flow patter.</p> |
