Flexible web can be welded for manufacturing a sealing blanket on a load bearing structure of e.g. a drinking water container. It comprises a sealing web based on ethylene copolymer and bitumen and carries on one side, a sheet which is free from bitumen and is compatible with drinking water, e.g. a sheet based on polyethylene or polyamide. An interlayer of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer is placed on the sealing web containing bitumen and the sheet without bitumen is placed on this layer.
