The electronic weighing device is designed especially for tile melting furnaces. The tile (6) is supported on a bracket (5) attached to a platform with a horizontal pivot bearing (4). A link mechanism connects the platform to a piston and cylinder combination (7). Deflection of the piston and cylinder is conveyed to a connecting rod (9) which moves the sliding contact of a potentiometer, the fixed terminal being connected with the frame of the bearing. Movement of the potentiometer enables an electrical reading to be obtained which gives an indication of the pressure on the piston and thereby the weight of the tile on the dial of a suitable indicating instrument (11).
