1508139 Substructures; beams BHAGAT ENG CO PRIVATE Ltd 6 March 1975 52952/74 Heading E1K [Also in Division F2] A substructure is in the form of a beam comprising upper and lower chords which are either flanges 9, 6 integral with a web (10), or separate bars connected by bracing 26, a joint formation being disposed at each end of at least one of the chords and disposed on the longitudinal axis of its respective chord, the joint formations being identical in construction and having locating formations so arranged that they interfit in a complementary manner with the locating formations of the joint formations of another substructure. As shown, the locating formations consist of arcuate ribs A, B and arcuate grooves Al, B1 so arranged that they interfit with identical ribs A', B' and grooves A'1, B'1 on another substructure, the joint being secured by a bolt 31 and nut 32. The beam is preferably of deeper section in its central area, or has additional bracing 16, 25, Fig. 2, to strengthen its central portion. The joint formations are indicated at 2A, 2B, 20A, 20B, 23 and 28. |
